About The Blue Bench

The Blue Bench (formerly RAAP) is metro Denver’s only comprehensive sexual assault prevention and survivor support center.

Since our founding in 1983, we have worked tirelessly to eliminate sexual assault and diminish the impact it has on survivors, their loved ones, and our community.

We’ve helped thousands of people in the Denver area find courage and strength through our issue advocacy, evidence-based prevention programs, and low- to no-cost client services, like our 24-hour hotline, individual and group therapy, and case management.

OUR MISSION

Prevent sexual violence & support survivors

The Blue Bench is a community of survivors, allies, and advocates working to prevent sexual violence and build a safe and supportive metro Denver. We work collaboratively to provide accessible, survivor-centered support services and empowering education.

OUR VISION

A world without sexual assault

We hope to one day live in a world where sexual assault no longer exists and where there are no more survivors, friends, and families suffering in its wake.

Why “The Blue Bench?”

While 1 in 3 Coloradans experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetimes, many feel isolated and ashamed. But on a bench, you don’t sit alone. Someone can sit beside you.

Our blue bench symbolizes a safe place. A place for community conversation. A place where you can come as you are without shame, fear, or worry. When you see our blue bench in the neighborhood, we want you to know that in your community, survivors are believed and supported.

Who We Serve

The Blue Bench is a community resource to help survivors of sexual assault and abuse on their path to healing through therapy, case management, and more. We provide services to survivors aged 13 or older. The Blue Bench primarily serves Denver, Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Douglas, Elbert, Gilpin, Jefferson, and Lincoln counties. All of The Blue Bench's services are offered in English and in Spanish.
